i am traveling in nepal walking across the mountains for 6 months
when i return to katmandu how long will it take to organise a visa to mainland china where my daughter hopes to be travelling for two months?

It takes 4 working days for the embassy in Katmandu to process a China visa application. However, a single entry tourist visa generally permits 30 days stay duration in China, you and your daughter can asks for 60 days stay duration on the visa application form, but it is up to the final decision of visa officer.
