My wife and I will spend a month in China.  Our chief worry:  lack of non smoking rooms in hotels.  Is it possible to routinely get non smoking facilities in China?

Yeah, it is possible. In public places there are Non Smoking design and set special smoking rooms you can get a non smoking room in the hotel easily.
