You need to apply for a Macao visa in advance, there is no minimum for how long you must be out of China, and you can try this, just go through the controls and turn round and come back in again without actually leaving China.

thanks for the reply Alvin,please will they allow me to exit from china side of the boder then turn back...without a macao visa?
