May I submit my application for a work visa by mail?

I live 8 hours by car and 2.5 by plane from Chicago (the closest embassy to me). May I submit my application for a work visa by mail or do I need to have someone in Chicago submit it for me?

You must come to the Embassy or Consulate-General in the consular jurisdiction where you reside to submit the application, plese check the consular district frist from Chinese embassy in America(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/united_states.htm) , and Visa applications should be submitted by someone else entrusted, it cannot be done through mail.
