Hi, I will be going to shantou in china for visiting on 4Jan to 12 Jan 2011. Can anyone advise if i am able to bring food items eg 3 boxes of ferrero rocher which has about 48pcs in each box, 2 packs of 250g sweets and 2 small bottles of home-baked cookies? How many litres of alcohol and the alcohol volume is 1 person entitled to bring into shantou? Will there be any issue if i purchase medications like panadol(cold), poh chay pills, charcoal pills at SG pharmacy? Last but not least, as i intend to bring just the right amount of prescribed medication from local pte clinic/polyclinic in a medication case (all these will be carried on a small pouch into the cabin) will there be any problems when clearing the customs at shantou or do i have to bring the whole pack of prescription there? Thanks to advised.

Cooked food can be taken into China, but at most 2 boxes, I'm not sure whether you can take so many sweets and cookies into China. You may take 2 bottles of wine into China without paying any tax, but should be less than 1,500 ml and alcohol content is less than 12%. If you want to take more wine, then you may have to pay high tax for that. For medicine, it is stricter, if you do need to take so much, you may need to ask the clinic to provide you a proof and make a declaration to the China customs. To be frank, your luggage is a little bit complicated, you'd better confirm with the China customs directly.
