About:

I heard that the bullet train service from Shanghai to Beijing was at the Shanghai Railway Station but ever since June this year, the location for these services have moved to another location (somewhere westward?). Is this true and if so, where is the new location? Would I be able to buy tickets for the d-bullet train that goes from Shanghai to Beijing set to leave at night on the 30th of December two days before?

Yes, all of the night bullet train to Beijing have been moved to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station. This station could be reached from downtown area by metro Line 2 and Line 10, neighboring the Hongqiao Airport.

It is difficult to say whether you could purchase the train ticket only 2 days in advance. The bullet train tickets are alway need in urgent, especially close to the New Year's Day. Better to purchase it as early as possible.
