You can't change your Chinese Tourist Visa(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/visa/tourist.htm) into Work Visa directly within Mainland China, if you find a job in China, the employer gets the Alien Work Permit and Visa Notification Form for you, you can go to Hong Kong to apply for China work Visa. Normally tourist visa permits not more than 90 days stay duration in China, you can go to Hong Kong to apply for a new tourist visa to return to China.

in this case, you'd better apply for a work visa after your first visit to China in Hong Kong or Canada. Work permit should be handled by your future employer as well as the visa notification. The duration of a single entry tourist visa is 30 days generally (except the multi entries one, which allows 60 or 90 days). It is troublesome and costly to re-apply again and again, and the visa officers may refuse your application anytime.
