About:History of China

Hi! I was just wondering if China in the history was isolating themselves in if they were, when and why?
I would appreciate and answer, China has always been of my interests!

In the Qing Dynasty(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/intro/history/qing.htm), the Chinese govenment had ever closed the country to international intercourse for safeguarding the feudal rule under the bud of capitalism in China, and protecting China from being invaded by foreign countries.
