Is winter in Beijing very cold?

Hi, my family and I will be visiting Beijing for Christmas. From what I understand, it's the winter season in Beijing right now. I'm concerned about my 13 year old daughter who has sinus, and thus cannot hold up to extremely cold temperatures. Any suggestions to overcome that? Thanks.
