Homestay is not so common in China and I seldom see it in Nanjing. I think you could ask for your school to help you solve it or you may stay in your classmate's home.

As I know, the Citibank has not set a branch in Nanjing. And, there is a HSBC branch in Nanjing City, located at 1F, Xin Di Zhong Xin, 188, Lushan Road, Jianye District. But, most of the ATM in Nanjing do accept card with logo of Visa and Mastercard.
