So you will come to China for traveling, right? If so, you need to apply for the tourist visa, im not quite clear about the cost of visa, but to handle a visa, you need to provide a valid passport, filled application form, and photos in person or through a third person. You are suggested to contact your local Chinese embassy for more details. Hope it is helpful.
