About:Marriage Registration in China

Hi, I am from Singapore and I want to marry my girlfriend who is from Hubei but living in Guangzhou in a rented apartment. If I already have the Certificate on Eligibility to Marry and the Legalised Affidavit of Single Status from Singapore, should we register our marriage in Hubei or Guangzhou? We intend to buy a house in Guangzhou after marriage. And after marrying her in China, is it possible for me to work in China. Thanks.

You need to register your marriage in Hubei where she registered her Hukou. but still, you need to apply for a work visa if you have a job in China, this Z visa you can change into a residence permit which based on your work contract.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Can I find work in China after I registered our marriage and received my spouse visa or must I do it before that.

You can find work in China after you register your marriage and received your spouse visa, but it is illegal to work in China on a spouse visa (L visa for family visit), once you sign work contract, ask your employer to provide you the Alien Work Permit and Visa Notification Form for you, then you can apply for China work visa(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/visa/work.htm) . But it is hard to get a work visa in Mainland China, I'm afraid that you have to return to Singapore to apply for China work visa. Work Visa holders need to apply for Residence Permit at the local police station within 30 days after entering Mainland China.
