About:Chinese Consulate in Melbourne

hi there,
I have already booked my flight ticket
from 22/12/2010 to 17/02/2011 to go hong kong
Just wonder if the chinese consulate is open this coming Monday.
As there is the Melbourne Cup this Tuesday.
And also i wanna to ask, if i was about to come to apply for the visa tomorrow.
Just wonder if that would be fine?
As i'm aware the visa is only valid for 3 months for the date when they issue.

Thanks

Yes, China visa is valid for 3 months since it was issued. But as you said, your trip is on December to HK only, right? in this case, you do not need to apply for a visa to HK if you will stay there less than 90 days.
