About:Chinese Embassy in Spain

I am US citizen and I am traveling to Spain to study in Barcelona for spring semester (4 months). I then have to travel to China for a summer program. Can I apply for a China visa at the Chinese embassy in Madrid for my summer semester having a US passport?

You can apply for a visa to China through Chinese embassy in Madrid. Possibly, they require your Spain resident permit or student visa for visa application.
