Hello - I am going to Nepal and will be stopping in Chengdu under 24 hrs and I read that I do not require a transit visa but need a stopover permit if I leave the airport as it will be approx. 8 hours and I would like to have a good night sleep in a Chengdu hotel -
Can you tell me what the procedure would be - the government website said that I am to get this permit at the border airport Can you please confirm this Thank you john

No.Ms,John, as the regulation, you need to apply for a transit visa if you want to leave the airport in Chengdu. I know that in Beijing and Shanghai, there are such permit named "One Day Stay Permit" which can be used to leave the airport for travelling. Maybe it is true in Chengdu now.
