About:China Visa Application Requirements

Hello, I have a foreigner boyfriend who currently works in China. I've been to Macau last year but I'm planning to fly to China(wuhan) next month. Does he need to send me invitation? what are the documents we / I need? can you please give me the details of what I need to do... thank you very much
