hi, i will be going to china in the first week of october.In china the national holidays will be from 1st to 3rd of october and during that time i'll be in shanghai.i need to know that whether the market and the transportation will be open.also what all is closed at that time like restaurants etc .kindly tell me in a bit detail about what all i can do during those days coz I'll be there only for the first week.

Hello, the whole week you stay there will be the national holiday, at that time, restaurants, shops and other facilities will not be closed, since most of the people in China are on their vacation and this is a good time for promotion of the stores and shopping malls. You can tour around Shanghai but actually it would be crowded there since it is the holiday, the Bund, Happy Valley, City God Temple, Yuyuan Garden, you can also tour around other cities in this area such as Suzhou, Hangzhou Nanjing.
