About:Forbidden City Travel Tips

Hello!

I will be visiting Beijing in October, and will spend one morning exploring the Forbidden City. It has been difficult to determine what sort of food is available if I choose to have a light snack or lunch there. Is there a cafe with a variety of sandwiches? Just a simple place where I can eat quickly and return to my sightseeing would be ideal.

Thank you!

You mean inside of the Forbidden City?! I didn't notice there is place of this kind. Bring some food.

Thank you for your response. Yes, I meant inside the walls of the Forbidden City (I recall there used to be a Starbucks, but that has now closed). I can bring something to eat or else just finish my sightseeing around 11 a.m. or 12 p.m. and get lunch nearby.

You are welcome. Yes, there was a Starbucks inside, but closed soon for the argument, saying it is not suitable to appear in Forbidden City. I didn't see any dining places when I was there this May, perhaps I was not willing to eat anything inside there, so I didn't notice at all. It was said that there is a service center (shopping and food) 200 meters east of the North Gate - Shenwu Gate of Forbidden City. Do not go there. Take a cab to Wangfujing Snack Street, not very far away but without walking distance. There are many food including western and Chinese food there.
