Wujiang Lu as we know it for street food no longer exists.
It's fallen foul to the over development and what constitutes a world class city in the eyes of the Government.
Wujiang Lu now consists of yet another mall with most food priced way out of the average Chinese workers budget. Instead of a throng of delicious street food you can now find Krispy Kreme, Carl's Jnr, McDonalds, Starbucks, Chinese chain restaurants, over priced Western coffee shops/cafes and expensive local places.
The only saving grace is that the amazing soup dumpling shops (Wangs Stir Fried Dumpings) has managed to secure a spot in this mall. It's on the 1st floor in the section furthest away from Shimen Yi Lu - exit 4 out the metro and turn left into the mall, go up the escalator on the right and it's as you turn back on yourself...follow the large queue! It is of course next to a KFC and posh steamed dumpling shop with extortionate prices.
How i miss the Wujiang Lu of old!
