About:Sayram Lake

Anyone know of a place to stay around Sayram Lake? Is it only camping? Are there Yurts or Homestays available?

There are some hostels by the waterside. The conditions are very poor. It might be cold at night. By the way, the price is around CNY 200 per night.

Thank you for the advice. Is it possible to bargain down closer to Y100/night? Also, is there a bus directly from the station in Yining to the Lake?

Mr.Hall,
As for accommodation prices, it depends on you. If you are really good at bargaining, you may save some money. The long distance buses from Yining to Urumchi/ Karamay/Shikezi/Kuitun pass by the lake. You can take these buses and get off by the site.

If you want to have fun, you can rent a car to bring you there. It costs a bit more but is definitely worth. By the way, you may go around the lake by car to see the most beautiful scenery there. Then you need to pay the entrance fee. It is around CNY40.

Better rent a car and camp there. June is the best time for the whole place is strewn with colourful flowers. Don't just touch and go! Make a round lake tour too.
