About:China Train

My friend and I are planning to travel from Beijing to Shanghai within the next couple of weeks, I have a few questions about traveling by train:
1.Which are the best train's to take? (I would enjoy love to ride the Bullet train)
2. When is the best time?
3. Which station is the best to leave from? (Please note that I am not actually located inside the City of Beijing, but an hour out, in Changping)
I am located in Changping, so I will have to take a bus into Beijing in order to catch the train.
It would be wonderful if you could answer these questions for me. Thank you

From Beijing to Shanghai, you can take the D trains, which only cost about 10 hrs. And you would better take a night train; in that case the arrival time is on the morning of the next day, such as D305, D307 and etc. Most trains including D trains to Shanghai are departing from Beijing South Station. Thus, you would better get to the Beijing South to take the D train.
