I don't think Tianjin is a better shopping place than Beijing. If you want buy some souvenirs or food, you can get to the Cultural Street and Nanshi Food Street of Tianjin. For children's clothes, there is a Children's Shopping Center in Wangfujing Dajie, plus many other shopping centers, such as Wangfujing shopping Center, Dong'an Market, etc. It may costs nearly 150RMB from Xingang to Tianjin by taxi.
