we are a group of 5, what is the 'best' way to get from airport to hotel in the city?

We are a group of 5, what is the 'best' way to get from airport to hotel in the city? Should we take airport train, to subway to taxi? Or is it easier to take a taxi from airport to hotel?  Do taxis charge per person, or per carload? I am confused by all the info I have read so after a long flight I want to know the 'best' way but can't estimate taxi cost, any assistance would be appreciated.

The taxi will charge by meter,namely the distance from the airport to your hotel. However, one taxi only allows 4 adults together.Please leave your hotel name, then I could give you the best transportation!
