About:Beijing Transportation

My wife and I need to go from Tianjian (preferably the Tanggu Railway Station) to Beijing on June 26 to join a tour group.

I have received coflicting information on whether or not we need to make advance reservations to ride on one of the "bullet trains" and how much luggage we can take on-board the train.

Are advance reservations required to ride on one of the "bullet trains" to Beijing or can we purchase tickets once we arrive at the railway station?

We will be arriving in Tianjian on a cruise ship and we will each have one large suitcase and 1 smaller "carry-on" sized suitcase. Are there restrictions on the amount or size of the suitcases that can be taken onboard a "bullet train"?

If anyone can provide answers and information, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I have been there last week. We did not make any reservation and just bought the ticket once we arrived the railway station. A bit different, we left from Beijing for Tianjin and just buy the ticket on ticket machine. According the passengers that day (not weekends), you need to make reservation at all. Around lugguage, you can bring you lugguage. There are large space in two ends of the carriage for passengers to put their bags. Do not worry about the 'size'. That will not be a problem. There are only four trains from Tanggu to Beijing. I think you can get ticket when you arrive at the Tanggu Railway Station. At worest, but the ticket for next train and you have to wait a while. If you miss all trains at Tanggu, you can get to Tianjing Railway Station first. There are more trains there.
