About:Beijing Long-Distance Bus

Starting from Beijing, I'd like to overnight at the foot of Simatai for an early, short climb the next moning, then proceed to Chengde for the night. By the following evening, I should be back in Beijing. Now, I'd prefer using the long-distance bus system throughout, because it is more flexible than the train, and perhaps faster (??) on the new highway. Please sort out the multiplicity of buses & bus stations, and recommend a most practical way to do this 2-night trip.

1. from Beijing to Simatai Great Wall: please take a bus or subway to Dongzhimen firstly. Here, you could take the bus 980 to Miyun Bus Station with a fare of CNY15. On the next early morning around 08:00, at this bus station, there is a bus departing to Simatai directly. The bus fare is CNY4.
2. from Simatai to Chengde: it is suggested that you take the bus back to Miyun Bus Station firstly. Beside this bus station, you could catch a bus to Chengde directly.
3. from Chengde to Beijing: at the local bus station, you could take a coach back to Dongzhimen Bus Station of Beijing in 2 hours.
