About:Chinese Embassy in Australia

Hi I helped a friend get her Visa and letter of invitation to tour Australia. She has got the visa after showing she has 60,000 Yuan in her bank account. But after getting the airline ticket all booked to come here for 1 month stay. She says she has to show $5000.00 as basic travel allowance to customs at China. Is there a new law or requirement to this affect?

The visa office of Australian embassy/consulate afraid that your friend can't burden the travel expense for 1 month in Australia, or suspect that your friend will overstay or can't return to China on time, so he ask your friend to show $5,000 to customs at China.
