About:Lantau Island

Hi,
me and my girlfriend will be in HK for a stopover of 2 days in august (arr at 5.45am 11/08 dep 00.45 13/08) and we'll stay at Empire HongKong.
We'd like to visit Lantau Island (Giant Buddha), Victoria Peak and see a simphony of lights.
Do you think we can do it in a couple of days?
Any suggestion about the itinierary/transportation?
It's better to visit Lantau directly from the airport? How can I reach it?
Can you suggest us any other interesting thing to do?
Many thanks in advance

Mr.Fabrizio,

You can do your two-day trip. To visit Giant Buddha, you can take S1 airport shuttle bus (HK$3.5) to Tung Chung. Then walk to Tung Chung Cable Car Terminal to take Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car. After reaching Ngong Ping Village, you can walk to Giant Buddha. It just takes around 5 minutes.

Don’t waste much time in Lantau Island. After visiting the Giant Buddha, take No.2 bus from Polin Monastery to Mui Wo and then take ferry to Central Pier 5. Then go to Central MTR Station to take Tsuen Wan Line to Tsim Sha Tsui, exit J and walk to the Avenue of Stars. The SOL begins at 8:00 pm and only lasts for 15 minutes.

There are three Empire Hotels in HK (Tsim Sha Tsui, Wan Chai and Causeway Bay). Which one have you decided to stay? But don’t worry! You can use MTR easily to reach Central. Then exit J2 and walk to Central Peak Tram Terminus. There you need to take peak tram to get to VP. You may also visit Madame Tussaunds Wax Musem on the Peak Tower too.
