About:Beijing Great Wall

I would like to visit to Mutianyu section on May 1 but I don't want to take the tourist buses (I will be going by myself). Is the express bus from Dongzhimen station operating at this time, or is there a better way for one person to get there?

1.Catch the no.936 Bus from the Dongzhimen Long Distance Bus Station. Some of them runs directly to Mutianyu.
2.Catch the No.916 Bus from the Dongzhimen Long Distance Bus Station and then get off the bus at Huairou City. Afterwards, take a taxi to Mutianyu for the rest of the trip which should cost approximately 45RMB; Or you can take bus 916 (outer ring) to Yujiayuan and then take 916 Branch Line to Mutianyu.

Stephen, do you know the schedule for the 916 and 936 buses? Also, should I look for an "express" bus? And do you know if the no. 6 tourist bus leaves from other stations than Xuanwumen?

Tourist Bus Line 6 has been cancelled. Are you planning to take that to Mutianyu? Actually, bus route 936 and 916 all goes to there. Bus route 936 (tour line) starts from Dongzhimen between 07:00 and 15:00 every day with the frequency of 1 hour. The last return bus departs at 17:00 from Mutianyu.

Stephen, I was looking into Bus No.6 because I heard it went directly to Mutianyu, but I won't look for it now. I will try for bus 916 or 936 from Dongzhimen. Do I need to look for a specific 936 bus to make sure I have the right one? Or do all 936 buses go to Mutianyu?

Good question. Beijing has several kinds of 936 bus: Bus No.936; Bus No.936(Tour Special Line); and lots of Bus No.936 Branch Line(***). You should take Bus No.9360(Tour Special Line) to go to Mutianyu. Ask the driver or someone else if the very last stop of 936 bus is Mutianyu Great Wall. Good Luck!
