I'll be arriving on international flight thru CHINA EASTERN AIRLINES at T1 at 12.40 and will continue my international flight with CHINA EASTERN AIRLINES at T1 at 20.40. Can I wait in the at the hourly hotel in the transfer area? If yes, how about my luggage. Will it be lost if I don't collect it until 8 hours later? If I have have to come out of the transfer area and collect my luggage, then is there any place that I can take a rest for the night at the arrive hall for 8 hours?

At the boarding Gate 10 of Pudong Airport, T1, there is the rest room of China Eastern Airlines. You can have a rest there. The airlines offer through lugguage service which means you do not have to handle your lugguage by yourselve. About his, you'd better confirm by calling the airlines. You can get out from Shanghai airport without a visa. So, you can also have a short visit to the city center.
