So there's no need to take the Maglav? You can travel into the city directly from the airport? Do you know how long it takes roughly?

Yes, you could take the metro line 2 to downtown Shanghai directly currently,taking you about 30 minutes to New Pudong Area and another 10 minutes to Peopel's square. However, the last metro will leave from Pudong Airport around 16:00, so please make sure that you could catch it.
