About:Chinese Embassy in Australia

Hi, I am going to be studying in China on an F-visa for 3 months. I have the invitation letter and so on. Do I need to have the return ticket to get an F-visa?

To clarify, I have a one-way ticket booking, but not a return ticket just yet. Can I still get an F-visa?

The return ticket is not the important document required for F visa, the invitation letter is the most important required document. I think that it is ok for you to get F visa if you have the following documents:
(1) One completed Visa Application Form with a passport photograph attached;

(2) Your passport with at least 6-month validity and at least 2 blank visa pages;

(3)invitation letter from China side.

Also my invitation letter if from the school, but has no authorization from the government. I've heard that to get a study F-visa, you need authorization from the Chinese provincial or municipal government. Is this true?

Well now I'm really confused. Apparently I need a JW202 form for a short term (3 month study) visa as well. Can anyone confirm this?

Mr.Gage, yes, the Visa confirmation letter from the foreign affairs office of the provincial or municipal government is also the important document for F visa application, however, for Australian appliants, the Visa confirmation letter is not required by visa officer. You can have a try to apply for F visa without the Visa confirmation letter, if you are denied, you have to provide the visa confirmation letter which should be applied by your school.
