About:Embassy & Consulates of India in China

I am an Indian(Mubai) living in Yiwu, Zhejiang Province. I have no pages left in my passport and my visa is valid till May 10, 2010. If I have pages on my passport, I can take an extension on the current visa before it expires. I need a new booklet. How do I go about getting one and how much time and money will it cost?

Mr.IRFAN, you can go to the Consulate-General of India in Shanghai to apply for a new passport.

All Indian applicants seeking passport related or other consular services may please note the following:

Passport applications are submitted at the Consulate from 0930-1200 hours on all working days.

The time of collection of passports is from 1600-1700 hours on all working days.

Consulate General of India, Shanghai has implemented the system of issuing Machine Readable Passports. NO hand written passports are being issued.

Besides filling in the application form, four square sized 4*4 cm passport photographs with light background would be required.

Every attempt would be made to issue the MRP within 15-20 days. Reference cases would take longer (approximately 30-40 days).

For any clarification on consular matters of Indian nationals regarding passport, PIO cards etc.,
please write to Consular Officer at

or Contact at
Tel: (86 21) 6270 1728 / 6209 0993 /6275 2913

it costs RMB 335 for passport with 36 pages, RMB 415 for passport with 60 pages.
