Hi, I'm planning to visit Lijiang old town in a few days time with my girlfriend and plan to stay in the hotel's or youth hostels there, just wondering, do we have to pay the protection fee everyday of our stay in addition to the hotel fee? Most of the lodges are located within the old town ( what we searched online), and frankly speaking, we also wanna stay in the old town area.

Mr. Akash,Don’t worry. It is valid for one month since you paid the protection fee. You needn’t pay for it every time you enter the Lijiang Old City as long as it is valid.

O..that's a relief, haha..thanks Mr. Rain...otherwise being a backpacker, it would get too expensive to be paying protection fee at every site in lijiang and everytime we go around anywhere there. Thanks again!Cya
