If you hold valid South Africa passport, you could visit Hong Kong for 30 days without a visa. But you should have a China Visa to enter into Mainland China.

If you go to Hong Kong and want to come back to mainland China again you need a two-entry-visa or a multi entry visa for China. Going to Hong Kong is like going out of China
