Hi,

Pardon my ignorance but can I confirm if the old summer palace is also known as the yuanming yuan?

The Old Summer Palace refers to Yuanmingyuan. You must have heard of Summer Palace (Yiheyuan). It is also called Qingyiyuan (清漪园).
