We plan to visit the Silk Road in early April. What is the risk of encountering sand-storms?

Yes, sandstorms happen a lot in April. When you unluckily encounter it, you should avoid standing close to buildings and trees in case they fall. If you are in a car, you should stop the car and also avoid the buildings and trees. Do not stand between buildings as the draught there is too powerful. And what's more important, you are advised to travel in a group but not single. There is safety in numbers.
