The fast trains are great. I wish we had some in the US. There's no need to scrimp and take the hard sleepers anymore. Either take soft sleepers or fast trains.

Fast trains are more expensive. It's not a good phenomenon. I have seen in China that many people are taking the hard seats or hard sleepers.
