About:

Hi.. I'm going to xiamen on the last day of January by ordinary train.. but it will take me 20 hours to arrive there.. by the way I am now at shanghai, so my friends suggested that i could have some stop over for 3 or 4 cities here in china and stay for 1 or 2 nights and tour the city.. but i'm not familiar with the routes of the train here.. Do you have any suggestion? Thank you!

I think Hangzhou and Wuyishan are nice choices. You can take D trains from Shanghai to Hangzhou. After routing Hangzhou, get to Hangzhou South Railway Station at 20:50 to take the Shanghai-Xiamen train. Then get to Wuyishan at 3:33. No need to take the same train from Wuyishan to Xiamen, for it leaves at 3:47am. You can change to train K8745 at 20:22 from Wuyishan to Xiamen 12 hours later. (One hour faster than taking the previous train)
