Can i use my passport but i only have 5 months untill my expiry i am going on march 24 and coming back in april 30 and my pasport expires on august  24 so do i need a new passport??

Your passport should have at least 6 months valiidty left when you apply for Chinese visa, which means that you have to apply for Chinese visa before Feb. 24
