About:Beijing Capital International Airport

I will be flying from Hong Kong to USA with a 2 hour transit stop in Beijing. My flight from Hong Kong to Beijing will be with Dragonair and from Beijing to USA on United. Will I have to go thru immigration? Will I have to claim my bags and recheck? I understand that I will not have to get a visa. Is this correct? Thanks

No, you don't have to go through immigration again at Beijing Airport. If the two airline companies could transfer your baggages automatically, you will not have to claim them out and recheck. Please make sure this with your airline companies in advance.
Here is the transfer guide in T3 (where you will be): https://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/beijing/capital-airport-transfer.htm
