Indeed it is 5000 miles long. It starts from Hushan Great Wall in the east and ends at Jiayuguan Pass in the west, and this distance is much longer than that from California to Florida.

Have been researching for a work project and have read sources listing the length as about 3900 miles of actual wall, 200 miles of trenches, and 1400 miles of natural barriers like hills and rivers. Also have read several sources that say No, you can't see it from the MOON, but you can see it from space (as in, orbit around the Earth.)
