Just produce his old Chinese Passport & 4 photos will do. But it may take some time for him to get a new Chinese Passport at Philippines China Embassy.

He may visit Hong Kong with his Chinese Passport and stay there for up to 7 days without a visit permit. He may visit Hong Kong for up to 15/30 days without a visit permit provided he obtains a visit permit from Chinese Embassy in Philippines. It's pretty easy.

Same things happen in Singapore.

What do you mean? He can visit hongkong even if his chinese passport is expired already?

He needs a valid passport to travel outside the country. "Mr. Richards" was incorrect.

I recommend going to the Chinese Embassy [in Makati] for a determination. An expired passport is much harder to "renew", especially if it expired quite some time ago. He may need extensive documentation.

Their web site is quite good. Check the Chinese Embassy website first.
