Dear TravelChina Folks,

I sent this inquiry yesterday (12/18/09), but I am not sure if I had logged in correctly. (I do not see it posted.)

I will be traveling to China in February. I know I will need a Chinese visa to enter Shenzhen from Hong Kong. I am tentatively planning to also travel from Chengdu to Lhasa. Will I need a "double entry" visa in order to return to Xian from Tibet?

Please let me know.

Thank you. I truly appreciate your service.

yes, you need a visa to enter Shenzhen via Hong Kong. You do not need to have a double entry visa, but foreigners to Tibet should apply for Tibet Travel Permit. You will come to Xian from Shenzhen? Do not aplly for on-arrival visa at the border checkpoints between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. It only allow you stay within Shenzhen. Apply for Chinese visa in advance or in Hong Kong.
