About:China Student Visa

Hi, just regarding the student visa, is it stipulated by the Chinese government that the institution for which I'm applying has to be a college or university or can it be something like a private company teaching foreigners mandarin. And does it have to be so many hours a week, part/full time ?

Mr alex, are you going to learn Chinese in private company? Generally, the student visa is issued for aliens who want to visit China to study in a public institution (or state-owned) but there are exceptions provided that the chinese-trainning company is an authorized and reputed company.

Hi, sorry my dad (60) is planning to study over there and wondered if he could just go to any tinpot chinese language school and then they would help him apply for a student visa, but if you say that it has to be a proper college or uni then I guess that's it. Would he need any formal qualifications to enter such an institution, a degree perhaps or some kind of current mandarin level ?
