About:China Train

I will be flying to Hong Kong on Feb 1, 2010 and shipping out of that city on QM2 on Feb 12. I am looking to visit some part of China, outside Hong Kong, during that time. I am told that Beijing is the cultural center of China, with lots of great sights and historic and cultural things to see but I also understand that in early February it will be very cold. Is there some warmer place in the South of China which would have lots of culture to see during this time frame. I am open to travel by train or by air or any other recommended means of travel. BTW, I do not speak the language.

I think Yunnan Province is a good choice for you. It is in South China and it will not be so cold as in North China. You can visit Kunming, Lijiang and Dali. Those places do not only have cultural and historical sites, but also have beautiful scenery and you can also see the life of local minority people. You can contact a travel agent for some details and hope you enjoy your time there.
