Hi Wendy,

You can take train at Beijing West station leaving ~8:30pm either on train# Z19 or T27. Both arrive at next morning ~8:30am. You actually save time (vs sleep at hotel) and experience travelling in China by train, which is very safe and relax. I'd recommend get a soft sleeper for US$60/each. Need to buy train ticket (a) few days in advance. Or preorder them and ask them to send to your hotel though we haven't used this service before, as we have Chinese friends helping us on that.

We live in San Diego, and plan to do our China tour by train ONLY! The cost is a fraction of that travelling from San Diego to Seattle, and much faster. It usually takes one day or two to travel between most cities.
