About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

I am a u.s.citizen. do I need a Chinese visa to stay in a shanghai downtown hotel for 24 hours enroute to the Philippines? Ty.

Visas are not required of USA citizens transiting through Pudong Airport or Hongqiao Airport of Shanghai for less than 48 hours, but they have to show their valid passports, visas for the onward countries, final destination tickets and have booked seats.
