About:Chinese Consulate in Melbourne

Hi,

I'm looking at going to China for one week at the end of October and read in another forum that in addition to flight tickets, I also need to show hotel reservations for the period I intend to stay. Is this true? The website doesn't have any details regarding this. Please advise.

Yes, the hotel reservation is required for the China L tourist visa application.

Just lodged the tourist (L visa) today (21/09/09) n the guy at the counter returned my hotel confirmation and mentioned that ONLY travel itinerary is required.

The visa section is just around the corner and is located at 534 Toorak road. Its still best to park the car in Irving road which has 2hr parking limit and is hardly a 2 min walk to the new location.

As for the process, was there at 8.30 and there was a line of around 10 people. The consulate opened promptly at 9.00am and by 9.15 I had submitted all my docs and was heading back to my car. The new visa processing centre is quite efficient if you ask me. Just ensure that all your documents are correct.
