Hi, the National Museum of China is under construction right now and won't be open till 2010. The opening hours of Capital Museum are 09:00 to 17:00 from Tuseday to Sunday (last entry at 17:00), and the opening hours of Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution are 08:30 to 17:00.

These two museum are free and have limitations on tourist number, you should get the tickets first. As for how many hours, it depends on you. If you are a fan to those exhibitions, you may want a complete and detailed observation which may take you quite a long time. But if you have no particular interest, just look through. In that case, 2 hours maybe.
