About:Chinese Consulate in Brisbane

Hi guys,

I'm leaving to study in China on Feb 19 next year (for a whole year), and I'm aware that I need to get a Student X Visa and extend it within 30 days upon entry into the country. Before I leave for China, however, I will also be going to Taiwan on Nov 20 to study there for 3 months. Obviously I need to get my visa before I leave Australia (can't get it in Taiwan).

I've been searching on some sites and it says that the Student X Visa is generally valid for 3 months and good for one entry only. What I want to know is: can I get a double entry Student X Visa (6 months validity) into China, or is single my only available option? As I said, I'll be leaving for Taiwan for 3 months before I head over to China, so a single entry Visa would be far too risky.

I hope someone can make sense of all that and kindly help me out? Thank you so much in advance. :)

Ms.Thung, you are right, single-entry student visa with 3 months validty is too risky for you. however, the single entry is your only available option, so you can't apply for it in Australia before go to Taiwan, I suggest you to apply for it in Hong Kong or Macau after the study in Taiwan, it costs only 4 working days.

Hi Celina, thank you for your response, but are you absolutely certain that I can't get a double entry visa?

You see, I went to the Chinese Consulate Embassy in Brisbane the other day (I paid them a visit twice actually - just to make sure), and after much explaining on both occasions, the man and lady who served me said (to cut it short)that as long as I can provide all the right documentation, I could get a double entry Student X visa. This seems to be contrary to what you're saying...I'm left feeling slightly unsure about this :S

Does anyone else have an opinion on this? Would greatly appreciate it.
